Dr. Richard Bowman published an article titled “How Can Students be Motivated: A Misplaced Question?” in the November/December 2007 issue of The Clearing House: A Journal of Educational Strategies, Issues, and Ideas. Dr. Bowman’s research focused on how educators can be deterred from diminishing—even destroying—student motivation and morale.
Dr. Ruth Collins was re-elected mid-Atlantic vice president of the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges.
Dr. Gerald E. Gary presented at the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) annual conference on March 17, 2008, in New Orleans. The title of his presentation was “Improving Student Achievement Through Increasing Parent Involvement.”
Dr. Mark Ryan now has his column, “Ask the Teacher,” appearing in the Arizona Republic newspaper. Ryan is also the author of the book Ask the Teacher: A Practitioner's Guide to Teaching and Learning in the Diverse Classroom, used in more than 250 universities around the world.
Dr. Wallace Southerland was appointed to serve as president-elect of The Maryland Executive Council of Educational Opportunities for 2007–2008 and president for 2008–2009.
Dr. Thomas D. Wosley published an article titled “Efficacy of Instructor Feedback on Written Work in an Online Program” in the April 2008 issue of International Journal on E-Learning. He also co-authored a book titled Learning to Predict and Learning from Predictions: How Thinking About What Might Happen Next helps Students Learn (Allyn & Bacon, 2008).
